So Much To Do And So Little Time!

Hi all, where do we begin?

Since we decided to share our epic event idea with you all earlier this year, it’s literally been non-stop for us ever since! From intense training sessions, negotiating Sponsorships and arranging the logistics of an event such as this really does take it out of you, plus we’re all holding down full time jobs.

Over the past few months, we’ve had meetings and discussions with many RBL and RMA branches as they want to actively be involved in the fundraising element to help the team as well as wanting to do something that extra special for their designated areas…..mums the word though right now, good things come to those who wait ;)

One thing we were very concerned about was how on earth we were going to fund our event? We were getting ready to have to fund it all out of our own pockets, which we would have done if need be of course, after all there will be six mouths to feed, get accommodation for and to pay for diesel for the two support vehicles. 3,102 odd miles in diesel for two support vehicles isn’t cheap!

Luckily the worry over transportation for the Support Crew and to transport our equipment, clothing, supplements, medical supplies etc was resolved with the very kind donation of TWO vehicles from Ford Rentals working in conjunction with flagship rental operator GK Group Chesterfield.

WE’RE CLOSING DOWN THE ‘SUPPORT FUND’ OPTION!

As you all know initially we set up TWO options for Donations, one being the ‘SUPPORT FUND’ and the other being ‘DONATIONS’.
The Support Fund was solely set up to cover the cost of diesel, accommodation, equipment, food, water etc. However, we are VERY happy, elated in fact to announce we will now be removing the ‘Support Fund’ option thanks to an extremely generous donation to the Fund from PVI!

Protection Vessels International Ltd (PVI) have donated £10,000 to our ‘Support Fund’!

With this sponsorship we can now concentrate much more on raising awareness of our event and to get as many donations into the fund to go to our four beneficiaries once the challenge has been completed. PVI really have taken a tremendous strain off of the team, we now don’t have the worry of how we were going to be able to finance the event. PVI’s Sponsorship has overwhelmed us at TDF, we can’t thank them enough. PVI have also confirmed that should there be anything left in the support fund when the event is over they are more than happy for this to be transferred over to be used towards the donation fund for our beneficiaries.

We hope we do you proud PVI and thank you so very much for believing in us.

One last thing…

Before we go, if anyone’s in or around Peterborough this weekend the Tour de Forces team will be joining one of our Sponsors Invacare at the Mobility Roadshow being held in Peterborough Arena. Why not come on over and say hi ? we will be there on Saturday 23rd June 2012.

Invacare are one of our Sponsors who donated the specialised Hand Cycle for Mark Ormrod to use for the challenge, so we’re looking forward to meeting up with them again too.

That’s all from us for the moment, we will update you all again soon with more detail on who else is assisting the team and event in whatever capacity they can.
